Carl Jones signs with Mississippi Valley

MOORHEAD – Carl Jones (Greenwood) signed with Mississippi Valley State University on Wednesday to continue his academic and athletic career after spending the 2020 season with the Mississippi Delta Community College football program.

Jones, a sophomore linebacker/defensive end, had seven tackles and one sack for the Trojans in the 2020 campaign.

He began his collegiate career in the Metro area at Jackson State University, where he played for John Hendrick during the 2018 and 2019 seasons. While with the Tigers, he split time as a rush and weakside linebacker.

Jones prepped at nearby Greenwood High School, where he was a four-year letterman as a defensive end and middle linebacker for the Bulldogs. The 2018 graduate was named the team's Defensive Player of the Year at the conclusion of his senior season.
